"Julie!" I hear you saying, or if you're really a hard-core Zombies, Run! fan, maybe you're saying, "Runner 5! What on Earth were you doing out running on a gray, misty day like this when you should be getting dressed for the wedding you're attending this afternoon?!" Or, well, maybe you're not saying it, but probably my mom is.

In any case, the answer is that I've been eating moderately unhealthily the last few days, will probably eat quite unhealthily tonight at the wedding, and I figured a bit of running might counteract it, just a bit.

Week 1, Run 2 )
So it looks like the people behind my ever-beloved Zombies, Run! have a new app out, and this time it's a couch-to-5k program. It's set in the same universe as the main Zombies, Run! app, between missions one and two, just as Runner 5 is getting acclimatized to Abel Township. There aren't really any spoilers per se, at least not yet. The premise behind the app is simple: a whole bunch of runners are out sick for smoke inhalation (they burned down a building to scare away a zombie horde, but got caught in the smoke), so Abel needs all the runners they can get. Enter you, Runner 5.

Week 1, Run 1 )
Despite the 13-hour workday, it actually wasn't that bad.

Wednesday: Board meeting and opening of the reg desk )
I was bored tonight. Yes, it does happen. And I figured it was such a beautiful night, it was time to finally finish season 1 of Zombies, Run! Because I really, really wanted to find out what happened after the last mission. I hoped there would be closure. I may have been optimistic. (Map and stats for today's mission can be found on my ZombieLink page.)

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 23 )
I'm getting close to the end of season 1 now, and the action is really ramping up. And since, conveniently, I was going over to a friend's place almost exactly 5k away yesterday, I decided to walk it in the lovely weather and find out what's going on in Abel Township. (Stats and map for this mission can be found on my ZombieLink page.)

Spoiler Alert: Zombies, Run mission 22 )
The weather was gorgeous in Montreal today -- at least in the shade -- and I figured it was time to help out at Abel Township again. The only complicating factor this time was a few mosquito bites I got Friday night at an outdoor barbeque, two of them annoyingly on my right foot. But no matter! The zombie apocalypse waits for no woman, and certainly not for her mosquito bites to heal! Stats and map for today's mission can be found on my ZombieLink page.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 21 )
Okay, it was too hot to run away from zombies today. Way too hot. Like, humidex of 40 C / 105 F hot. Like, "asthmatic Runner 5s with low blood pressure should really know better" hot. But Six to Start put out a new update today (1.3) with their iPhone ZombieLink compatibility. You can see my spiffy new profile with all my runs. But not today's run. Because I was stupid today. More on that after the cut.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 20 )
My goodness! Has it really been three and a half weeks since I last ran away from Zombies? Janine would be furious! But between two weekends out of town and another catching up, I've been super, super busy. And despite the utterly gorgeous weather here in Montreal, I only just managed to get out for another Zombie Run today. Still... better late than never. Particularly given the new nifty stuff announced by Six to Start today.

Spoiler alert: Zombies Run, mission 19 )
Okay, my first day of "I'm going to eat really healthy" failed utterly, consisting of lunch at a cafe and fast-food for dinner. So in recompense, I decided to brave the soon-to-be-inclement weather and run away from zombies.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 18 )
It's my birthday! And as a special present, I discovered that Six to Start had featured me in their shout-out to Zombies, Run fans! How exciting! Of course, with all that hype, I had to run another mission today. Maybe the zombies have birthday cake. (No! The cake is a lie!)

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 17 )
Just stretchin' the old legs, pickin' up a few supplies for Abel Township, and all that jazz, right?

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 16 )
Yesterday's mission was supposed to be just a normal scouting run. So there should have been nothing strange at all. Right? (Ha. Ha.)

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 15 )
What happens when life begins to settle down after the apocalypse and everyone starts going stir crazy? A hilarious mission, that's what.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 14 )
Yesterday's mission continued the investigation that's been going on for the last few runs, yielding a few answers and many more disturbing implications. Also, it confirmed for me how much I dislike walking up hills.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 13 )
Between recovering from my cold, a week of truly horrible weather, and a very full social schedule, I haven't been able to run away from zombies in nearly two weeks. Which is a shame, because today the plot thickened... a very small amount.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run! mission 12 )
So that little head-cold I thought I was developing last week? Turns out it was a full-on illness that made me feel like I myself was a zombie for the next five days. I'm not entirely healed up yet, but enough that I felt I could run mission 11.

Spoiler alert: Zombies, Run mission 11 )
I'll say this much: trying to run (or in my case, briskly walk) away from zombies when you're developing a head cold is a new and not altogether pleasant experience. At least I leveled-up some buildings.

Spoiler alert: mission 10 )
Today was my longest walk yet -- 71 minutes, split between two missions. I wasn't planning on doing two missions today. Really, I wasn't. But mission 8 ended on a cliffhanger and I decided to do mission 9 to see if it got resolved. And it did... but only barely, and only right at the end.

Spoiler alert: missions 8 and 9 )
Because of circumstances beyond my control and the return of my shin splints, it's been several days since I did any long walks. But, as Dr. Myers reminds us on a regular basis, everyone in Abel Township has to earn their keep, and I decided that today was as good a day as ever to put on my running shoes and see what the settlement needed from me. Normally Fridays are date night with Marc, but given that he's working an overnight shift tonight, I was all by myself. What better way to make a girl feel romantic than running away from zombies... right?

Spoiler alert: mission 7 )
Today was a pretty miserable day, both in Abel Township and Montreal. I actually had to stop my walk after a mere 25 minutes, but oh what an interesting 25 minutes they were!

Spoiler alert: mission 6 )
