What happens when life begins to settle down after the apocalypse and everyone starts going stir crazy? A hilarious mission, that's what.
Today's mission took a break from the heavy investigation of the last four missions to do something lighthearted: go to a toy store and gather some games. Now that life's been settling down in Abel Township, people are able to focus on something other than pure survival... which means they're getting bored. Cue Runner 5, purveyor of fine toys everywhere.
Today's operators were Sam and Dr. Myers, riffing off each other in ways that occasionally had me laughing out loud as I walked. See, it turns out that both of them are huge roleplaying geeks, and were absolutely geeking out over some books I found, and also some minis and paint. The one-liners were also flying. (Sam: "Well... maybe you can think of running away from zombies as a game." Dr. Myers: "Don't be absurd." Sam: "Yeah, you're right. Sorry.")
Nothing too spooky today, nothing deep or meaningful, just good clean running-away-from-zombies fun.
After that it was a new segment on Radio Abel, "Abel Minds," in which Jack and Eugene go out into the community and ask people pertinent questions about life post-civilization, like "What are you thankful for?", "What's your weapon?", and "What are your hopes for the future?"
Sadly, there weren't any more questions after that, not because I ran out of time but because I think I ran out of published Radio Abel content. I went another 4-5 songs on my playlist without any Radio Abel segments whatsoever. Sad Julie is sad! I wrote to the people behind the game asking if this was a glitch or if I had, indeed, come to the end of the content. If it's the latter, I'll have to beef up my playlist a bit, because it'll be too short.
In any event, the weather was lovely today, about 21 C and sunny. The only problem was that when I was walking in the sun, I was already overheating, and we're not even into the really hot summer months yet. I'm not sure what I'll do when we've got humidexes in the 30s. Only time will tell.
But that's it for now, anyway. Next mission looks to be some scouting, though I wouldn't be surprised if it continues the storyline from the last few missions. The game's been sneaky about mission titles recently. *grin*
