A short session last night saw Jeyne get into combat and Soren get into diplomacy. Surprisingly, it did not end in disaster.

June 17, 2012 )

And that's it for this time. Next time... more of the same, probably.
This week, Lukas and Kyran discovered that they are riding directly into the path of an army intent on besieging their destination, Soren and Lyra discovered that rescuing Pinkmaiden from its own besieging army will be tricker than anticipated, and Jeyne is not so much besieged as attacked by "Pooka" natives.

Because life is weird sometimes.

June 3, 2012 )

And that's it for this week. Join us next time when we find out how all the non-combat characters deal with combat!
Harenhal is over, and the Riverlands, Stormlands, and Reach are all in the midst of civil wars. Soren and Lyra bring men to relieve the siege on Lord Piper of Pinkmaiden, one of Lukas' bannermen. Lukas and Kyran, meanwhile, are on a boat moving west past the southern coast of Dorne, headed for the Arbor, Oldtown, and ultimately the Iron Islands. And Jeyne, who has been waiting to show her prowess in war her whole life... is in the middle of nowhere, caged by Southrosi natives, having been captured by three different factions in a month. Because life is unfair.

May 6 and May 20, 2012 )

So that's it for this week. Next time: more war! More plotting! More... running away from natives? Most likely.
I realize I haven't actually posted the quotes from last session's Game of Thrones game yet, but this is mostly because the session involved a lot of logistics and not many clever quotes. Next "Game of Tomes" will be a double-header.

That said, a lot has been happening. Quite a lot, in fact. Among other things, Jeyne's been kidnapped. Several times. With several companions. This story is set after the last "Game of Tomes" and explains -- more or less coherently, I hope -- what's been happening to my character in the meantime.

Casting Blame )
Harrenhal is finally over, and canon has been thrown firmly and finally out the window. House Bracken is now Lord Paramount of the Riverlands, House Reidell of the Crossroads is Lord Paramount of the Reach, Rickard Reidell is Hand of the King, and Eddard Stark has taken the white of the Kingsguard.

So, what I mean to say, is no one has a clue as to what's gonna happen next. We're in uncharted waters now, for sure.

April 17, 2012 )

And that's it for this time! Next time, we time jump two months (theoretically) and start ever more politicking! It must be time to write more behind-the-scenes stories!
The finals of the jousts are done, and Janus and Rhaegar's plot went off exactly as planned. Now all that's left is the archery competition and declaring the ultimate victor of the tourney. Oh, and stopping the Mad King from leading the realm into all-out total warfare. (Many thanks to this week's guest stars: Steph, playing Jeyne's little bird Bethany, and Tony, playing Ser Gunthor Hightower.)

March 18, 2012 )

That's it for this week. Join us next time when the thrilling politics continue!
Another new short story! Yay! This one takes place during the afternoon of downtime before Robert Baratheon wakes up from his injuries.

Teaching Little Birds to Sing )
Robert Baratheon is dead, long live Soren Baratheon! Last night's session saw the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands wake up just long enough to call for a feast, get drunk, and get taken away to die in privacy. Tomorrow... the jousts!

March 13, 2012 )

And that's it for this time! Join us Sunday when we -- maybe, hopefully, possibly -- will get to watch the finals of the joust!
Calamity and catastrophe! In last night's session, Our Oblivious Heroes (tm) awoke to find that the archery competition had been pushed back two days, and on the docket for the morning was the grand melee... with live steel. In a twist of fortune that no one saw coming except maybe for the Mad King, Robert Baratheon was mortally wounded by his best friend, Eddard Stark. As the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands lies on his deathbed, all thoughts turn to his likely successor... the newly-legitimized Soren.

March 4, 2012 )

And that's it for this week. Next week, will Robert Baratheon meet his end? Will Janus Reidell be forced to face the Crown Prince using live steel in the finals of the joust? Or will the Mad King change his mind and command the archery competition be moved up again, just at the time of greatest turbulence? There's only one way to find out! Join us next time for more Game of Tomes!
Another story for Ian's Game of Thrones game! This one takes place while all the PCs and most of the major NPCs are off having dinner outside of camp, leaving the men-at-arms and nearly-hired knights alone for the evening. Sadly, this story probably won't make sense to anyone who isn't in the game.

While Horses Graze... )
Another session, another half-day of game time. This week, Our Heroes (tm) prepared for a fancy dinner and a potentially-fatal ambush on the way to the archery competition. The scheming! The ridiculous amounts of scheming!

Feb. 4, 2012 )

And that's it for this week! Next week: can Our Heroes (tm) actually get through a dinner uneventfully? Will they all be poisoned when they attempt to take the field tomorrow? Will Lukas actually be able to hit the target? Join us next time to find out!
Mass disappointment! The semifinals of the jousts consisted of Rhaegar knocking out Bryndyn Bracken in a single tilt, and Janus Reidell won by default when his cousin Maxwell was too drunk to show up to the match. On the other hand, most of the Our Heroes (tm) are getting treated to dinner, courtesy of Gerion Lannister's well-placed bets.

January 30, 2012 )

And that's it for tonight. Next time: dinner! And maybe we'll make it all the way to tomorrow!
Because my muse has been on overdrive lately and all my characters are stalled out in their various plots, I present to you a flashback story that takes place, as the name suggests, five months ago.

Five Months Ago... )
In last night's session, we managed to get through... an evening. It pretty much voids my most recent story, but on the other hand, Jeyne has now been officially recognized as a Bracken, so I'm willing to accept the compromise.

January 22, 2012 )

And that's it for this week. What will happen now that Jeyne's officially a Bracken? Will Lukas be spared from having to 'make the field' for one more day? And how's Soren doing at dinner with his brothers? Only time will tell! Join us in two weeks for the thrilling continuation!
I present a new story for my Game of Thrones game, another vignette that takes place after last night's session.

A Day's Work )
Last night's session saw round 3 of the jousts, in which Ser Rolland Osgrey did remarkably well against Prince Rhaegar, Bryndyn Bracken unhorsed Doran Martell, and Janus Reidell was poisoned by the king. Fun times all around!

January 15, 2012 )

And that's it for this week. Next time: archery! Will Lukas be able to take the field? Will he ever actually figure out what 'taking the field' means? Find out next time!
Last night saw Our Heroes (tm) recruit a dozen and a half lords and knights of renown and then have dinner with Prince Rhaegar. Also, we're level 7. Yay, leveling up!

December 17, 2011 )

And that's it for this week! Join us next time when we're back to more fighting!
There's a day off from fighting at Harrenhal, ostensibly to feast and relax, but more honestly to plot and scheme. Lukas has decided that today's the day he hires several dozen knights and men at arms to protect himself and his lands. Of course, with every lord of any repute whatsoever attending the tournament, such an undertaking is ripe for political consequences. Better get to it!

November 27, 2011 )

And that's it for this week. Hopefully next time we advance the plot a bit more and inch our way ever closer to getting out of Harrenhal. See you then!
Tournament day 5: second day of jousts and lots and lots of politicking. Our Heroes seem to be getting everything they want, but that can't last… Can it? (No. No it can't.)

November 19, 2011 )

And that's it for this time! Tomorrow is a day of rest and feasting… which means it's time for plotting and scheming! Tune in next time to see how Our Heroes fare! Because in the Game of Thrones, you win or you eat table scraps.
Two days in a row! The good news is that no one's died yet. The bad news is that Lyra's semi-miraculous healing powers have led some parties to believe she's a warg, and Lucas is already preparing the dragonglass daggers "just in case." Oh, and Lord Reidell will be riding alone against the entirety of the Kingsguard AND Mad King Aerys, who's none too pleased with him right now. Oh, well. You know what they say: in the game of thrones, you win or you get skewered with a lance.

November 7, 2011 )

And that's it for this time. Join us next time to find out whether Lucas will kill Lyra for being a warg, whether Aerys will kill Lord Reidell for defying him, and whether Raegon will get everyone killed by simply being him. It's all in a day's work for the intrepid players of Game of Tomes!
