Today's essay on Daily Breadcrumbs discusses the incident of the golden calf.

After a rousing night of roleplaying yesterday, I wound up oversleeping by about two hours this morning. I didn't mean to, but the snooze button was right there (well, across the room, but regardless...), and I don't need to leave the house until 11:30 this morning. So what if I have phone calls to make? They won't take long, right? Right?!?

Ah, the joys of rationalizaton. I suppose I should get ready for class now.

Annoyances

So... that place where I had an interview last week? You remember, the training agency that looked really nifty?

I just spoke to the employment agency today. I wasn't picked for the job.

"Why?" you ask. Because I'd told them that I couldn't work for the two weeks of Pennsic (I told them I had an annual conference). At the time, they said it wouldn't be a problem. Apparently it was a problem, because that's the reason they gave to the employment agency for why they didn't pick me; everything else in the interview went really well.

In the end, I suppose I'm not too upset. Yes, it was a nifty company. Yes, I suspect I would have liked working there. But if I didn't get to go to Pennsic this year because I was working at a temporary job, I'd have been upset anyway. Who knows? Maybe one of these years they'll need another replacement position, and they'll call me.

On the up-side, I suppose I don't need to go through the stress of giving notice to ILSC.

But I'm miffed for the time being. Le sigh.
