Of rings (both metal and onion)
Dec. 14th, 2005 12:08 amTonight I went to the SCA meeting here in Eoforwic. It was quite a lot of fun, actually. It reminded me that you can actually talk about something historical, make sense, and not feel the need to quote twenty academic articles in minute detail using obscure terminology to do it. (And before CMS people get up in arms, the woman who was giving the talk has her PhD from CMS: she knows what she's talking about.)
After that I joined them all at a pub, where I spent an hour and a half picking the brain of Master Hector of the Black Height. He's a great guy, and has a lot of really good ideas about the SCA that tend to mesh with mine. We ate onion rings and talked about the tradition of ring-giving in the SCA (hence the title of this post).
And that's it, really. Tomorrow I've got about 4 pages or so to write up (perhaps a bit longer). I'm aiming to get that done by noon. Afterwards it'll be time to research. Finally, dinner with my daddy (who was VERY nice and got me a ticket to go home in Via 1 class!). But for now, to bed. G'night all.
