No, for once I'm not talking about me! I'm talking about my dad, who spent over 24 hours in airport hell. He sent a few reports from the road, and they're a great read if you've got a few minutes to spare. If you think your day was bad, read on. Unless you've just lost your job or are suffering through a severe illness in the family, this will probably make you feel better about your current situation. At least, that's what it did for me.

And that was my cop-out for actually writing something constructive tonight. G'night all.

Today has been a good day. I completely finished knitting the hat to go with Isabelle's sweater, and had JUST enough yarn to put a pom-pom on top. Now I have absolutely no yarn left, so I won't be tempted to do any more projects, which is just as well. The sweater needs buttons, but that's all. I figure I'll buy them AFTER boxing day.

Also, after feeling completely sedentary for over a week, I pulled out my DDR pad today. I have vowed to myself that I will play at least 30 minutes a day, according to the game-clock (it works out to about 45 minutes total). Today went well. I broke out a sweat and feel good about that.

Latin is progressing slowly but steadily. I'm trying to do 10 new verbs a day to have the entire list in Kennedy memorized by the time school starts up again. I haven't been doing as much reading as I should, but at least I'm expanding my vocab.

Finally, tonight celebrates one of the few rituals I still have with my dad: every Christmas Eve we drive through the city, looking at the Christmas lights and listening to The Shepherd on CBC radio. Afterwards, we try to find an open Dunkin Donuts and usually wind up settling for Tim Hortons, upon which we have a Christmas donut. (Yes, today I prefer Timmy's, but it's the principle of the thing.) We've done this every year for a long time, probably since my parents divorced (over 15 years!). See, even the Jews have Christmas rituals! *grin*

That's it for now, folks. I may post again before bed, or not. We shall see.

I started looking at various LJ icon communities and the next thing I know it's 10:30! How on earth did that happen?!?

In other, good news, my daddy bought me a desk lamp and then took me out to dinner. Yay! Thank you, daddy!

Didn't get to go to PIMS today, but I did get to do some pesky detail-oriented editing to my transcription (do you know how LONG it takes to transfer 127 footnotes?!?). Tomorrow, PIMS. Tonight, shower and sleep. Friday, home! Now that my paper is written (though not edited), I am far less panicked than I was last week. Life is good.

And, just in case you missed it in that last paragraph: I am coming back to Montreal on Friday! I should be back by about 9:30, and will be at Ian's party on Saturday night. Come see me and give me hugs!

My father has done a very dangerous thing: he has given me a science fiction book when my papers are due. It is taking all my willpower not to just sit on my bed and read it until it's done. The only reason I'm not is that the paper is due tomorrow. Today I've been spending about half my time reading and the other half editing my paper. I just finished the first edit, and now I must do a second run-through for things like proofreading and such. Then I need to put together the bibliography and cover page, and then it will be done. After that I will do the last few lines of Latin, and then I will immerse myself in this book and hopefully finish it today so it doesn't distract me from my next paper.

Sleep time

Today I had dinner with my dad at Massey. I think we both enjoyed it, and I was pleased. He really got into the carpentry work, which was fun. Alas, our plans to buy me a desk lamp were thwarted when we discovered Staples closed at 7, not 9 like we thought.

I came home. I finished tomorrow's Latin exercise. I translated another sentence of Dominus Angelorum (LotR). I showered. I am now clean and going to bed. G'night all!
