A few random thoughts from today

1. I found myself in a classroom this morning with 14 other people my age... none of whom knew what "usenet" was. This freaked me out. I mean, not even when I mentioned things like "rec." or "soc." or "alt." did anyone know what I was talking about. Was I really that precocious in my internet use?
2. In the same class, we were talking about Jewish views on sacred space, and I realized I was the only Jew in the room. Though I've had many conversations about religion and Judaism with many non-Jews, it was extremely odd to be in an academic setting, talking about Judaism, with no other Jews to provide alternate viewpoints. Even when I was at Concordia, the only "Jewish" course content was with a Jewish prof, so I didn't feel too out of place.
3. I feel dumb. In response to my Johari and Nohari post last night, I got a few people take the minute to fill it out. One person (the only one, in fact, who filled out both) signed his name as "vig." I was scratching my head trying to figure out who that was. It hit me like a load of bricks today, and I feel increadibly dumb. (Montreal people who still haven't gotten it: think of our friends' initials. Remember that not all of them use their first name as their name.)
4. Someone at the grocery store used a Visa to pay for a $2.70 purchase. Wtf? Did you really have so little cash on you?
5. I loathe cashiers who return change by giving you the bills and placing the coins on top of them. The coins all slide off, and it takes WAY longer to put away my change. I don't know who tells them to do it like that, but I think they need re-education. Rats may be involved.
6. D&D 3.5 character creation is far more difficult than it needs to be. I'd forgotten how complex it is compared to white wolf. But at least it's done now. I'm playing, essentially a "bard by day, treausre hunter by night" character. And, very oddly for me, all my feats are in weapon stuff and I've got two kick-ass magical (sorry, "enchanted") rapiers. Ah, the benefits of starting at level 6. On the other hand, I hate rules lawyers.
7. Less than 24 hours until Montreal. Yay!
So that's it. It's past my bedtime and I'm going to sleep. G'night all!
