I was around cats Saturday night / Sunday morning. Yesterday my athsma was hellish. I couldn't even last the minimum 4 hours between inhaler puffs, but needed to cut down that time. Between 9:30 am and midnight, I needed my inhaler six or seven times. Ouch! I desperately needed it again when I woke up this morning.

Then, this morning, I remembered what day it is: Halloween. The day when, according to the ancient celts, the veil between worlds is thinnest and magick is most powerful. And, though I have never actually tried magick and have no intention of doing so in the near future, I thought to myself, "wouldn't this be a good time to try to do something about my athsma?"

Then I looked at my moon clock (it's a nifty widget on my computer that tells you what phase the moon is in) and realized it's a new moon tonight. According to neo-pagans, the new moon is a good time to do banishing / diminishing magic (vs. full moon, which is a time for magick of increasing). And I thought to myself, "wouldn't this be just an ideal day to attempt to banish my athsma?"

And that was it. I didn't actually DO anything, didn't spend any conscious energy on working any magick (I doubt I'd know how, anyway). And yet I didn't need my inhaler since. I took it at about 8 pm, but that was preventative and not actually needed. Only if I concentrate or really exert myself do I remember that I was increadibly ill yesterday.

This is far better than I have any right to expect. Last time I was in Montreal and spent a night around cats, it took until Thursday for me to feel normal again.

We'll see what happens tomorrow morning (mornings are usually worse for my athsma than evenings), but I am optimistic. I doubt I've banished it for good, but at least I seem to have inadvertantly dimished the effects of this attack. I am very pleased, and quite surprised.

In completely different news, today was full of Latin. We've finally finished the grammar review and are on to actual (relatively easy) translations. I did a lot of reading, 4 English => Latin translations, finished up transcribing the Origny manuscript pages, and memorized 6 new verbs.

I also photocopied my readings for Thursday morning, though I haven't really read any of them yet. Nor did I do any work on my St. Bernard paper. Tomorrow, tomorrow. I also had dinner at Massey tonight.

Tomorrow I write my Latin midterm, attend a lecture by a Major Benefactor (tm) of Massey College, and possibly meet with a professor to discuss my manuscript transcription. If possible, I'll do lots of reading for my papers.

And that's it for now. I'm going to relax, meditate, and take a shower, probably in that order. Hugs to everyone! It was great seeing you all this weekend!
