Viking apron dress #1: Complete!

For those who were wondering, Viking apron dress #1 is finished! Yay! Well, not quite true: I've still got to finish all the seams. But that can wait. The important thing is that it's in a wearable state in time for Crown Tournament. Now if I could only figure out how to string the bead necklaces so that I can easily add and remove beads, I'd be golden.

Psst... anyone know how to string a Viking bead necklace so that I can add and remove beads easily and yet not have to worry about the beads falling off?

Thanks. It's wool. This one's actually plausibly period in colour. The other two that I'm going to make are linen and, well, less plausibly period in colour. Not neon pink or anything. Just not really colours that you could get onto linen in period.

:grins:: You'd have better luck getting neon pink into linen than that deep red. :)

Anyway... that was part of why I was curious. That's gorgeous wool. :)

Precisely. For the linen tunics, one is a deep blue with a small check pattern (the blue would be just about right for woad on wool, but is much too dark for linen), and the other is a herringbone orange-and-lime-green, which surprisingly works perfectly with my green chemises (though I'm pretty sure that lime green is totally unperiod, and I have my doubts about bright orange).

Thanks. Actually, I have long braid cases, but they don't really go with this outfit. All I'm *really* missing are big honkin' strands of beads. *grin*

Incidentally, you can get some colors close to lime green out of dye. I have this pic of one of Thora's dye cards that I refer to often. :)
