eveglassToday's breadcrumb is about a key passage in Exodus, that makes the rest of the Old Testament make a lot more sense.
I had a fairly vivid dream last night, to the point where I'd like to go back to sleep for another few hours to explore the setting more. But, alas, I must wake up, so here's what I remember:
Somewhat post-apocalyptic. Something has happened whereby people can't really go outside anymore: the air is noxious or something. Instead, I and many other are living in a huge hotel, which we have converted to serve as a permanent home. There is a makeshift hospital, hydroponics, and various other services.
The first three floors were destroyed during the whatever-it-was that made the air noxious. They are supported, very tenuously, by stopgap repairs. No one goes down to the fourth and fifth floors: that is the layer of Them. Who They are is a mystery, They are kind of like bogey-men or (in Firefly) reavers. Yet for some reason I need to go down to the fourth floor.
When I get there, I find out that They are mostly children and young adults -- no one is older than 25 or so (perhaps from exposure to radiation or something?). They are a harsh people, but they look out for their own. One of them has been injured -- a broken leg. I set the bone (painfully, as there are no medications this far down) while others hold down the patient with strong arms.
Emotions / Themes: exploring the forbidden, tension / fear, hurry
Today I begin teaching my regular classes at EA again. I don't need to leave the house for about three hours, but I've only half-planned my lesson so far, and I'll need at least a half-hour to an hour to do that. At least I'm not particularly worried about that. It'll come together as it always does.
I have no real other plans for the day. Karate may be on the docket, as may be second-hand-book-buying. Or not. We'll have to see. Anyway, that's it for now. TTFN.
