I know -- gasp! shock! After a full week of nothing but CELTA updates, has Julie finally done something... else?!? Blasphemy!

But it's true. Actually, I've been doing stuff other than the CELTA all week, just not much of it. Monday I had dinner with Ian and his parents, Tuesday I tutored, Wednesday I went (very, very briefly) to Ian's, Thursday I went to Maz. So it is apparently possible to have a life outside the course, albeit a very limited one.

Yesterday, however, was Ian's birthday party. The counter restarted this year, so instead of 11 parties, he only had the one. But it was a very, very good one. I spent most of the afternoon chaufering Ian back and forth to various places to pick up the last of the party stuff, came home just long enough to get changed, and then headed out again.

The party began at 6 (for me, anyway). There was food. Much food. SO MUCH FOOD! I ate way too much. I probably ate enough to sustain me for the next three days. Don't even ask how much sugar I consumed in that food. I got to see a bunch of people I hadn't seen in months. I got to play with babies. I got to participate in an impromptu jam session and get myself invited to another one (yay!). Around 1 am, my athsma was acting up and I decided to say my goodbyes, but it was a very good party for all that. If I wasn't doing the course, and if I didn't have athsma, I'd probably have stayed until the wee hours of the morning.

Anyway. This morning I did CELTA stuff. (Ok, I lied. There's a bit about CELTA in this post.)

Between yesterday and today, I did about five hours of CELTA stuff. To whit: wrote assignment 1 (with the exception of some stuff for which I need to consult resources at the school itself), did half of assignment 2, and prepared my lesson plan for tomorrow, which included creating three new handouts and padding an otherwise tiny lesson.

Actually, about an hour of that was spent just trying to transfer my lesson plan onto my brother's computer. I learned a few lessons: 1. Don't bother copy / pasting, just retype it. It's actually faster. 2. For some reason, the document switches the language over to Spanish, so all my words are underlined in red. 3. I truly hate Word's autocorrect "feature." With an abiding passion.

But that's all the CELTA stuff I'm going to talk about today. Promise. Now I've got to do some severe cleaning of my room -- the dust is procreating. After that, there are a few things I want from the grocery store. Still not sure what I'm doing tonight.

That's all. Move along -- nothing more to see here.
