Job-hunting update

Cold-calling is stressful. Not counting the times I received an answering machine and promptly hung up (because, let's face it, few people are going to call back someone they don't know from Eve -- pun not intended), I made 14 calls this morning. This sounds impressive until you realize that of those 14, I only spoke to the intended person 5 times. For another 4, I was told they'd be in this afternoon and must call back.
So, the actual result of my two hours of work this morning:
- one woman from EAC (editors' association of Canada) will give me a informational interview by phone on Saturday morning (I'll have to escape from the SCA event for a half-hour to do it).
- one woman from EAC gave me a referral, and seems like a very nice woman. She's busy with work but told me to call back in a month if I still haven't found people to talk to about the field.
- I know my CV has been received by John Abbot but no decision has been made about it.
- I know my CV has been received by the Westmount Learning Centre, but they're no looking for anyone right now. I also know the name of the woman in charge of tutoring.
- I know Dawon's Learning Centre doesn't need anyone for this semester, but might for next semester. I'll be going in for a meeting in November. On the other hand, they offer practically no hours (generally 3 per week, apparently).
And that's essentially it. For two hours of work. Hopefully I'll have more to add this afternoon.
