Yesterday I did karate for the first time in a month and a half. The hiatus had been somewhat involuntarily imposed, but there nonetheless. But yesterday marked the first class of the new month, so in I went.
It was a good class. Very small: only me and three green belts. The good part of this is that it gave me a lot of one-on-one time with the sensei. I actually wound up learning two new kihons in their entirety, which was very cool. Especially cool was the look on the sensei's face when he realized I learned the first kihon after only one repeat. Of course, it'll take a while before I'm completely comfortable with them, but it was nifty nonetheless.
The downside is that I'm in very much pain right now. My legs are sore. My arms are sore. Various and sundry other parts of me are sore. I'm not entirely certain I drank enough water yesterday to compensate for the karate, so I have a mild headache. And I'm very sleepy. I wound up sleeping in an extra half-hour this morning, just because.
But, all in all, I are pleased. I was a good class.
And now, a nifty link: Things I’ve learned from British folk ballads. Read the comments too. It's hilarious.
Great!
