Mid-day update

I know some people consider reading "what I did with my day" posts to be tedious. This is why I put things behind lj cuts and make sure to tag my entries. It's not like you haven't been warned. No one's forcing you to read all the stuff my brain churns out.
I could have posted something last night, but honestly, I didn't do anything. I sat around, read Game of Thrones, and vegged. I feel like a slug. Since coming back to Montreal (two and a half days), I've seen a few people but done nothing in terms of job hunting or finding a dojo. I haven't done any Latin either, which irks me. I did not just spend a year doing intensive Latin only to let it slide. I must find something translated (Ovid, maybe?) that I can work on so my Latin skills don't atrophe.
In related news, CMS people, hang in there! 9 spots for 23 candidates to the PhD program is absolutely brutal! I may speak to Grace soon and let her know I'm withdrawing my name. I'm not really planning on doing a PhD, and the positions should go to people who want to continue.
Finally, cooking today went better than cooking yesterday. I managed to fix the soup by adding more broth (store-bought), and I cooked up a dish I'm calling "sloppy joe rice." It is made thus: brown 1 lb of extra-lean ground beef. Add 3 cups (1 jar) of pasta sauce. Simmer. Meanwhile, cook 1 box of rice (3 cups cooked). When both are ready, combine and stir. Eat. The result has the consistency of sloppy joes, but is quite tasty, if I do say so myself. And since I used store-bought pasta sauce, I don't need to muck about with spices I won't taste anyway. (Ah, the joys of having no sense of smell...)
This will probably be all for "adventures in cooking" for a few days. I've got 5 more portions of the sloppy joe rice, at least that many of the soup, and I think I'm going to take it easy on the cooking for a bit. I need to get out of this house. *grin*
My car is being delivered home to me as we speak, with a new muffler. I'll actually be able to hear myself speak when I'm driving. Yay!
That's it for now. TTFN!
