A slightly calmer reflection on Gmail IMAP
Apr. 8th, 2010 07:29 amAfter much experimentation, it looks like I can transfer over messages a dozen at a time, and I can do about 200 before the system fritzes out on me and I need to wait a half-hour or hour before starting up again. This is going to be a long, long process, but at least I've got most of the stuff I access on a regular basis transferred over. Now it's just archives. Lots and lots and *lots* of archives.
Edited to add: As I work on it this evening, I've found that so long as I stick to batches of 12 emails at a time, I can actually go quite a long time. I've been at it more or less continuously for four hours and transferred probably about 2,000 emails -- maybe more. Yay for technology working right sometimes!
