After much experimentation, it looks like I can transfer over messages a dozen at a time, and I can do about 200 before the system fritzes out on me and I need to wait a half-hour or hour before starting up again. This is going to be a long, long process, but at least I've got most of the stuff I access on a regular basis transferred over. Now it's just archives. Lots and lots and *lots* of archives.

Edited to add: As I work on it this evening, I've found that so long as I stick to batches of 12 emails at a time, I can actually go quite a long time. I've been at it more or less continuously for four hours and transferred probably about 2,000 emails -- maybe more. Yay for technology working right sometimes!

To the woman standing in front of me at Starbucks:

Wow, it sounds like you really wanted those China Green Tips. I appreciate that it's the drink your daughter always gets. But when the clerk tells you that there's a Quebec-wide shortage and the only stores that are still serving it are just using up their old stock, the correct response is not to get mad at the clerks. They're just doing their job, and there's nothing they can do about a green tea shortage.

Yes, you could call the district manager in Toronto. Her number's right up on the board. But I'm pretty sure she knows there's a provincial shortage. It's not the sort of thing you just miss.

On the other hand, if there's no tea, there's no tea. Maybe it was a bad growing season in China. Maybe the weather's lousy over there.

I repeat, getting mad at the guys serving you your drink will not help and it makes the people around you uncomfortable. Please remember this for next time.

Cheers,
Julie
