Morning

Feb. 2nd, 2008 09:52 am
Nothing for waking you up like sunlight shining in your eyes.

I just wish it happened earlier than 10 am.

I swear, when I get an apartment, I'm getting a bedroom with morning sunlight.
Okay... not quite.

But today, I did tackle a project that's been on my "to do" list for quite a few months: clean out my closet.

Many of you know that I've lost a lot of weight in the last two years: about 25 pounds. (Hey, when you're 5'0", that's a lot of weight.) I've gone from a size 12 to a size 6. I look good, if-I-do-say-so-myself.

On the other hand, my closet has not kept pace. I've still got size 12 stuff in there. Heck, I've got stuff that I've kept around since high school, before I gained the weight in the first place. It's been cluttering up over the years, filling my closet with clothing I know I'll never wear again. Some of it is very nice, expensive clothing, but it just looks horrid on me now that my waist has gone from 33" to 28", and the rest of my body has shrunk proportionally.

So, the final tally of stuff I've cleaned out of my closet (mostly just because it doesn't fit anymore):
- 3 long-sleeved t-shirts
- 1 button-down shirt (it would look good, except the part with the buttons shrunk and the rest didn't... my own stupidity when I didn't know how to wash it properly)
- 2 sweaters
- 2 turtlenecks
- 8 pairs of jeans
- 3 pairs of work pants
- 5 skirts
- 1 blazer
- 3 suits (1 skirt, 2 pants... and one of those pant-suits was expensive! Alas.)
- 1 pair of sneakers
- 1 pair of boots

On the other hand, I rediscovered a lovely black top that didn't look good on me in the past (it's quite clingy) but looks excellent on me now. Yay for rediscovered clothing! And yay for room in my closet and knowing exactly what I need to look for once the summer sales hit.
