Daily Breadcrumbs is back

With apologies to all my loyal readers, Daily Breadcrumbs is back after an unplanned 2-week hiatus. Today's essay talks about the Israelite laws for protecting the less fortunate, and the reasons for those laws. It is, alas, not particularly interesting, but I needed to get through it in order to get to the more interesting bits.
