1. My first essay has been posted to Daily Breadcrumbs. It covers Genesis 1-3, and discusses why I think Original Sin doesn't exist. Yes, it's long. That's why I'm not doing this on LJ.

2. Yesterday was the first day of RoyalCon. I showed up at noon, left around 8:30, and was bored for most of it. No afternoon games appealed to me, and the evening LARP was cancelled. Today is day #2, and I suspect I'll be suckered into going again. Fingers crossed that it'll be better than yesterday.

3. Ian finally got around to introducing me to Angel yesterday: we watched the first two episodes of season 1. I enjoyed it. But, given the amount of TV I watch now (ie: none), I doubt I'll be finished the series any time soon.

4. It's amazing how I can be so good with money for an entire week, and then be a complete splurge for one day and negate all my scrimping. Le sigh.

5. It is morning. It is, specifically, almost 9 am. I have just woken up. Stupid equinox and cloudy skies...

Apologies

Sep. 24th, 2006 07:42 pm
The time between Rosh Hashana (which ends tonight) and Yom Kippur (which begins next Sunday night) is a time when Jews traditionally ask forgiveness for the wrongs they have committed over the past year. This is because, according to Judaism, God will not forgive you for a sin you have done against your fellow man (or woman) unless you have received, or at least sincerely asked for, forgiveness from that person first. Furthermore, these few days are a time when God writes down names in the Book of Life, essentially deciding who lives and who dies over the next year.

I know that there are some wrongs I have committed over the last year against various people who read my LJ. However, I'm certain that there are many more actions which people may consider an offense, which I do not recognize as such. If I did, I'd have apologized already. So, I'm doing this year what I did last year, as it seemed to work out pretty well. If you want to use it in your own journal, please feel free.

If you think that I have wronged you in any way over the past year, and I have not yet apologized for it, I invite you to tell me my offence. You may do so publicly (in my LJ comments) or privately (by email, listed in my LJ profile). I will then consider the offence, and either apologize for it or justify why I don't think it needs an apology. If I apologize, I will tell you what I will do to try to avoid repeating the offence. If I justify my actions, I will at least tell you my reasoning behind them. I invite anyone, Jew or Gentile, to reply to this.

Once again, happy new year, and may you be written in the Book of Life.
