The morning after

My mom called me last night. She had perfectly understandable logic: if I hadn't posted my daily update post yet, I must still be awake. What she didn't know was that my internet connection had been down since 6pm because of upgrades to the network, so I could not post my daily update. The connection is now (obviously) back up, and I did not stay up all night to write this post.
So... yesterday.
I was actually moderately productive in terms of schoolwork yesterday. You'll be happy to know that my "blah" mood on Tuesday seems to have been from the effects of hormones. I'm much better now.
In the evening, I was invited to an Imbolc celebration (pagan holiday for spring), and decided to go. The ritual was relatively short (about 45 minutes), filled with singing, but obviously not well rehearsed. There's something about reading from a script that takes away from the effectiveness of a ceremony, I find. I'd even rather have had heartfelt adlibbing. Ah well. It was a nice enough ceremony, I just wasn't really into it.
Afterwards, I headed off with the group to a nearby pub, where they got beer and I tried to explain the depths to which I hate beer. I got (a damned expensive!) cider instead. Joining us was a professor of celtic studies, who seemed to be a really fun guy. All told, I had a good time, and then went home around 10:30.
And, as promised, a bonus picture. My dad took this at Massey's High Table on Jan. 13th. You thought I was short before, but you never knew how short I could look next to the university's tallest volleyball player.

So that's it. I'm off to prepare for a presentation I need to give in two hours. G'morning all!
