Pars Prima: Societas Anuli
Capitulum Primum: Convivium Longe Exspectatum
Cum Dominus Bilbus Bagginus de Fine Bago annuntiaret se mox celebraturus esse diem natalem unus et undecagensimus suum convivio magnificissimo, fuit in Hobbitona multa fama et commotio.
Bilbus divitissimus et insolitissimus fuit, et miraculum Regionis per sexaginta annos fuerat, postquam evanescens mirabilis et reditus inopinatus suus.

Please feel free to critique the above. I'm especially not comfortable with the last half-sentence ("postquam" and afterwards). Also, if anyone owns Cassell, could they please tell me the Latin for "shire"?
The English reads "When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton. Bilbo was very rich and very peculiar had been the wonder of the Shire of sixty years, ever since his remarkable disappearance and unexpected return."

visilius has posted a lovely reflection on the M.A. year. Aside from the wanderlust stuff, I feel very much the same way she does.
In boring news, I wrote 3 pages of my paper today (I was aiming for 4-5, but 3 is acceptable), did some fun manuscript research with Miri and Eileen (discovering in the process that one of the listings in the microfilm catalogue at PIMS is wrong), got stuck in a fire drill and needed to evacuate, then had dinner with my daddy. I also translated the above Latin, which took about an hour and a half, though much of that time was spent trying to translate "eleventy," "shire," "ever since," and "disappearance."
And now, to shower and to bed. G'night all!
