To make up for the fact that I forgot to post an update last night, I'm doing this one early (since I doubt I'll be leaving again tonight):

But first, to the woman I saw walking today in her winter coat: Look, I know it wasn't as hot today as it has been the last few days. I know it was very windy out. But it was still PLUS ELEVEN! Hardly winter coat weather!!!

Now that that's out of my system, things I did today:
Productivity behind this link )

And I've STILL got at 2-3 hours before bedtime! I'll probably spend it relaxing, maybe doing some light schoolwork, probably take a shower. Tomorrow I'm doing lots of library work, then at night is a High Table at Massey. Saturday I'm going to see Serenity! Yay! Sunday some of us Masseyites are having a wine and cheese. So it should be fun.

I'm feeling oddly creative. I want gaming, but failing that I may find myself doing some creative writing. Anyone on MSN may feel free to contact me. The only reason I would not respond would be that I'm in the shower, so wait a half-hour and try again. HUGS, everyone!

Shopping

Aug. 5th, 2005 05:09 pm
After a grueling 3-hour, intensive trying-on-clothes shopping trip with my mom, I now have new and nifty stuff. In particular:

- a new pair of black sneakers. To all intents and purposes they are exactly like my old black sneakers except not destroyed from countless hours of walking in Europe.
- 5 t-shirts, including a blue one. (Yes, gasp, colour!)
- 2 long-sleeve t-shirts, one choclate brown, one forest green
- a black low-cut long sleeve t-shirt
- a very nice black dress shirt
- a red polar fleece zip-up sweater
- a black dressy jacket

Still no pants. That'll have to wait until the next shopping trip.

I am now very tired and will proceed to relax (probably with a book and tea and some candlelight) and then head out to the game.
I'm now the proud owner of a new pair of black sneakers (read: I can now finally wear my black jeans without looking like an idiot, yay!) and four new t-shirts. It only took an hour and a half. Sigh. I'm *so* tired.

But... more work to do! I've got about 20 pages of notes to type (about two hours' worth), a paper to edit, reading to finish... and that's in addition to getting stuff together for my Toronto trip, which I need to be packed for by Wednesday morning. No pressure, though.

And just wait, [livejournal.com profile] iangurudata is going to try to get me to go out tonight. :)
So my night at the country was great. I spent time relaxing and unwinding, talking to my uncle and my cousins, got a nifty new toy (Magnetix, I'll post the link when I'm feeling energetic enough to get out the box). We had a bonfire. Had a huge dinner last night and a huge breakfast this morning, both execellent. It was exactly what I'd been wanting for a while, so that's all good.

And then I got home. First off, I had to wait at my grandmother's house for 45 minutes waiting for her caregiver to show up. She has alsheimers. She is deteriorating. I really hate watching it, because it pains me to see this formerly independent, charming, charismatic woman become completely confused and helpless. Every thirty seconds or so she'd ask if I wanted something to eat or drink, not realizing she'd already asked me.

I also went shopping. The plan was to buy t-shirts, new sneakers, a cardigan, and a new watch. I wound up buying a skirt, two button-down shirts, and a heavy zip-up sweater. So much for plans. Nice stuff, but I'm going to have to go out again tomorrow. And, to take a now from [livejournal.com profile] aeramel's "dumbass of the week" awards: the cashier at Fairweather in Cote Vertu. Three cashes, and she couldn't get any of them to work or get off her ass to call over someone to help her. She held up the line for over a half-hour without serving anyone. Grr!

So I'm back to being stressed out and keyed up. So long, good effects of country! I'll go play with my Magnetix now and try to calm down.
