Wednesday's session saw Our Heroes (tm) investigate a burning hut in a small farming village and watch an underground fighting league in a big(ish) city. Oh, and Baska broke somebody's leg, just for the heck of it. Fun times all around!
[One way to know you're headed in the right direction.]
Julie: "We're following the swath of destruction."
Robert the GM: "There is destruction."
[As you approach a group of people starting at a burning hut, it's always good to know where you stand in the division of labor.]
Baska (to Ionos): "Your job is to deal with the devils. My job is to calm down the villagers."
Ionos: "Agreed."
[It turns out the reason the hut was burning was because the woman who lived there had a contagious disease and the villagers didn't want it to spread.]
Julie: "I'm being very good and not selling them any snake oil medicinals."
Robert the GM: "You deserve a commendation."
[After Ionos puts out the fire by creating water, the villagers swarm around him, asking for blessings and suchlike.]
Baska: "That woman wants you to restore her youth."
Ionos: "Tell her I can't do that."
Baska: "Are you sure?"
Ionos: "What you try to say, I'm not responsible for."
[We arrive at the gates of Corrid, a medium-size town. The guards are somewhat on edge and in no mood to allow Gorka'munda into the city.]
Guard: "He's dangerous."
Colt: "It's been a minute, and he hasn't killed you yet."
[A number of the characters independently discover that there's an underground fighting league in the city. However, it's still a few hours until the fights actually start, so the PCs decide to pass the time at the inn.]
Sabina: "Is it time to break out the dwarven drinking songs?"
Robert the GM: "When it is not time to break out the dwarven drinking songs?"
[At the fighting arena, another spectator passes a little too close to Baska for comfort, and comes close to knocking her in the face. Baska fails her will save, and is pissed.]
Robert the GM: "You break his arm?"
Julie: *rolls* "Lucky for him, I fail."
[In the fight is the defending champion, a massive orc wielding a scimitar, and the challenger, a much smaller elf with two daggers. Colt has put his money on the elf.]
Robert the GM: "The elf is posturing..."
Adam: "I so bet on the wrong person."
[As it becomes clear that the elf is not going to win...]
Adam: "Everyone is looking at the fight?"
Robert the GM: "Yes."
Adam: "Is it wrong to cheat?"
Robert the GM (dumbfounded): "Is it... wrong... to cheat?"
[The elf gets a few ineffectual cuts in on the orc. The orc then smashes the heel of his hand into the elf's nose and slashes through the elf's wrist with his scimitar, severing the hand.]
Colt: "The elf's just giving up?"
And that's it for this week. Join us next week, when there will be more fun, more fighting, and almost certainly more destruction. See you then!
