Yesterday, my mom informed me of a problem on her computer (my old computer, a mac), whereby something -- maybe a virus, maybe something else -- was usurping her google searches and redirecting her to an unwanted site. Though she's quite competent on a computer when everything's working, this was beyond her, and she asked me to fix it. I had no idea what the heck was wrong. So today, I did a bit of research.

Total time to figure out the problem (a trojan horse called DNS changer): about 3 minutes.
Total time to find the solution and fix it: about 4 minutes.

Complexity of the fix:
- Download "DNS changer removal tool"
- Move icon into applications folder.
- Double-click icon.
- Press "scan."
- Little box pops up: "we've detected DNS changer on your computer. Press 'remove' to remove it."
- Press "remove."
- Restart computer.

Voila! No more problem.

And this, dear friends, is why I'm never using a PC ever again.
