[Again, normally this would have my colourful dice icon, which is blocked since I don't have the funds to renew my icons add-on.]
It's been a while, but Buckle Those Swashes started up again, so did the quotes! (For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, see part 1, part 2, and part 3.)
October 17, 2007
[Maery reflects on Natalia and Valentino's newfound marital bliss]
Maery: All it took was realizing Fiona was dead and me losing my memory...
Pat: Ah, the little things.
[Further reflections on how Pat is able to roll so bloody high all the time...]
Kyn: Pat's telekenetic; it's the only way he can roll so well.
Maery: That's God saying, "I'm sorry for the rest of your life..."
Valentino: Why don't I just stab myself right here, right now?
[Valentino gifted one of his Syrenth artefacts to his prince, for the prince's birthday. The prince was mildly impressed. Then Valentino put his foot in his mouth:]
Valentino: Thus begins my second quest, for the chamber. Perhaps your next birthday...
Prince: I'll hold you to that.
Pat: Pretty people don't fail.
[Another Pat-ism]
Pat: I'm your husband! I'm going to bear your child!
[Natalia, at the prince's brithday party, is surrounded by people trying to subtly and not-so-subtly figure out whether she really did forget her memory. This happens after a particularly nasty encounter:]
Natalia: ...The same way you were going to tell me about my dead brother?
Valentino: That, I forgot about.
[Valentino is acting exactly like himself. Amnesiatic Natalia, used to seeing a smooth, suave, fast-talking Valentino, is confused.]
Natalia: Valentino, you're not acting like yourself.

[Some background: There were a few games with no quotes, and one I missed. In short, the main plot points are that Valentino's house was burned to the ground by the Inquisition and his mother killed. Hunting them down, the party found a castle in the mountains, brought in an elite mercenary group, killed all the attackers... and then Valentino did something stupid and they all rose from the dead as ghosts. One touched Elsa, aging her a year and forcing her into labour. Her son was born a year old. Returning home, Natalia challenged the fate witch council, causing the party to be exiled from Valentino's home and into the south. There, we spent some down-time while Natalia also conceived a child and Elsa spent lots of time being afraid of hers. So much for background.]
Pat: Who's Marius?
Julie: My son.
Pat: ... Oh.
[Natalia accidentally reveals that she knows Thean, the game's equivalent of Latin.]
Pat: Wow, sorte magic lets you learn languages I didn't teach you? Say yes.
Maery: Yes.
Kyn: You're so whipped, even in game.
[Natalia is having a hard pregnancy, and it's only the second trimester.]
Natalia: Get it out!
Valentino: I would, but... no, I wouldn't. You'll have to suffer through this.
[Another Pat-ism. Note that Natalia has now given birth to a daughter.]
Valentino: Mommy loves you, just remember that.
Kyn: But you're Daddy.
Valentino: ... Daddy loves you...
[An uber-scary fate witch is making Valentino a bit tongue-tied.]
Valentino: Wine! [claps for his servants]
Beatrice: It's right beside you.
Valentino: [beat] That's how quick they are.
[Valentino managed to bring Elsa back to life, reversing a horrifically bad thing the fate witch was trying to do to her.]
Beatrice: Does he even know what he just did?
Natalia: No. That's another one of his skills.
[The encounter with the fate witch and her near-death experience has caused Elsa to no longer be afraid of her son.]
Pat: If I'd have known, I'd have stopped her heart a long time ago.
[About Valentino, a question we've all asked at one point or another:]
Beatrice: I'm trying to figure out whether he's cunning and powerful or just Lady Fate's bitch.
Beatrice: You are a puzzle, wrapped in an enigma, clothed in a mystery.
Valentino: Why do people keep saying that?
Maery: Because we can't believe you could be that stupid.
[Shortly after Natalia gives birth... and an extremely hard pregnancy:]
Valentino: So... how about a boy?
Natalia: You are never touching me with that thing again.
[Valentino blames Elsa, rightfully, for the death of his mother. Now Natalia wants to leave for Ussura and is worried Elsa won't want to come along. Valentino explains how he's going to persuade her:]
Valentino: I'm going to use the "my mother's dead" card on that one and she'll have no choice.
[The story of our lives]
Pat: You want me to do something first?
Julie: You going to make it worse?
Maery: You're going to make it worse.

Date: 2007-12-31 08:11 pm (UTC)I've nearly died three times now, and if I should die in the future, I'm *so* going to come back as someone wittier than my current characters. (She's sort-of the strong, occasionally-silent German mercenary type.)
