Two and a half days, condensed

I was about to post that nothing much has happened over the last two days, but a conversation with a friend tonight proved that not to be true. So, in brief:
- Heroes season finale: it was a bit of a disappointment, especially the last ten minutes or so. It felt like they had an entire half-season of stuff planned that they didn't get to. This is probably because they did, in fact, have a half-season of stuff planned they didn't get to.
- Work at Dawson: I though I had two more weeks, but it looks like I won't. They do, on the other hand, want me to come in on the 17th or 18th to do the English Exit extravaganza, something like 6 hours' worth of help for students taking the E.E. I have no idea how this'll work, but money is always nice.
- Dinner at Kelsey's: I won a $100 gift card, so decided to treat Ian and Marc to dinner. Kelsey's has definitely gone downhill in recent years: much smaller selection, removal of some of their signature dishes (which used to be favourite of Ian and I), higher prices. At least the company was good, and not needing to pay is always a bonus.
- Frustrations with Concordia: have I mentioned that one of the courses I want to take has completely filled up except for the Saturday class? And when I went to the department to see about registering in a section reserved for department majors, they pretty much told me, "you have to meet with the department director, Tuesday from 10 to 11." Gee, thanks for that huge window of opportunity. I guess I'll just keep compulsively checking the website for openings, then.
- Dentist appointment: really, the less said about this, the better.
- CELTA reunion / Christmas party: a meetup of people who graduated the CELTA (English teacher training program) or CEFLE (French equivalent) over the last year. Most people there "graduated" last Friday. I was actually a veteran, having been teaching for about a year. I didn't want to break anyone's hopes, so mostly avoided mentioning that I'm planning on going back to school in something that will actually make me money.
- Time with friends: I got to see Eric for the first time in a few weeks, which was (as always) remarkably grounding. And he fed me tea and crackers. What more could a girl want.
- Encounter with poverty: on the way to the metro, a homeless guy stopped me and asked me for change (50 cents for coffee, a buck for fries, whatever). Usually I just pass these guys by, but he made eye contact and got down on one knee and stuff. I searched for coins and didn't have any loonies or toonies. Heck, I don't think I even had any quarters. But the guy looked so wretched, I gave him a $5 bill. I looked incredulous, then his whole face lit up, he went down on one knee and kissed my hand. It was gratifying and creepy all at the same time.
Now I have the first night at home to myself in about a week, and plan to make full use of it to relax. TTFN.
