Back to school? Not me.
Aug. 24th, 2009 07:54 amMost of the cegeps are starting up today. If Marc were in town, today would be his first day of school for the semester. (He comes home in seven days. Or have I mentioned that?)
I really miss going back to school. Strange as it may be, I miss my life being divided up into semesters: nice, clear, delineated sections of time with ample breaks in between. I think that a three-semester year of about 15 weeks each, with two-week breaks in between, is just about ideal as a way of structuring my time. And while I will be the first to admit that the thing I hated most about ESL teaching was that I never knew in advance what work there would be for me each semester, it's one of the things I miss most about student life.
(For the record, the other things I miss most about student life are having control over my schedule, being in a state of constant learning, and feeling like I really, really knew what I was doing.)
So, for all you students about to return to the grind, good luck, and enjoy it while it lasts.
