My style statement: Cherished creative
Dec. 13th, 2008 09:04 amA few months ago, I discovered a wonderful book called Style Statement, by Carrie McCarthy and Danielle LaPorte. I've been reading their blog since I discovered the book, and I've been enjoying it very much. It took until last week, though, for my library to receive a copy of Style Statement, and consequently for me to actually read the whole book.
The idea behind a style statement is simple: it's two words that describe your inner essence. It doesn't apply only to fashion or decoration, but to career, hobbies, relationships, and so on. What does a "refined treasure" sofa look like? Or a "genuine legacy" Friday night? The first word applies to your foundation, your core, and the second word is your "creative edge," the accessories of your life and how you express your core.
I went through the exercises in the book slowly this week, and here's what I've come up with for mine: cherished creative.

If anyone feels like finding their own Style Statement, I'd certainly be happy to hear it. Cheers!
