1. The Crash Course (20 short videos, total time 3 hours) -- Chris Martenson has put together an incredibly understandable, comprehensive, and (dare I say it) scary presentation about how the economic crisis came about, what might come next, and what we might be able to do about it. Highly recommended.

2. 10 simple ways to feel rich without materialistic means -- if you watched #1, you might need some cheering up. This might help. I got inspired just reading it. (@ Stop Buying Crap)

3. 25 pieces of free and open software for macs -- some of this is pretty neat stuff, actually. If you're not a mac user, you're out of luck. Sorry. (@ The Simple Dollar)

4. Books for OS X (app) -- open-source book cataloguing software. It has two very cool features I've noticed so far: a) if you have a web cam, it will automatically scan the isbn for you (my success rate with this is about 30%), and b) if you enter the isbn, it will search Amazon for you to get all the other information, including the list price.

5. Multicolr search lab -- so cool! Pick up to 10 colours from the sidebar and it searches the "interesting" category in Flickr's Creative Commons to find pictures that match. I spent way too much time playing with this today. It's highly addictive.

6. RadioShack trade-in program -- if you have old electronics (cell phones, mp3 players, cameras, video games, etc.), RadioShack will quote you a price, create a free shipping label for you, and pay you for it. How cool is that? Not sure if this works in Canada, but I might be trying it out.

7. Paperback Swap -- register books you no longer want, get credits, and have other people send you books they don't want. Sender pays shipping. Currently only available in the US. Feh! US readers, I charge you to take advantage of this. I would if I could!

8. How many miles per gallon does your body get? (meme) -- a cute little meme that lets you calculate how much energy your body gets per "gallon" of liquid food and water. I apparently get 31 mpg. What about you?
