Oct. 9th, 2008 11:55 am1. Some thoughts on the fulfillment curve -- one thing economics has actually taught me is that, after a certain point, "more" does not necessarily mean "better." It's all about finding a happy medium, which is what Trent tries to demonstrate here, graphically.
2. Positive and negative advertisements (includes videos) -- argues, based on real TV ads, that it might be possible to both sell product and promote the social good at the same time. Interesting idea. Watch the ads.
3. How robots will invade our lives (TED talk video) -- the robots are coming! The robots are coming! Seriously, there's some cool robot research going on. Nifty stuff.
4. "You're gonna miss me" (TED talk video) -- an 18-minute story by a Cuban storyteller. A lot of fun to watch.
5. 14 amazing interactive drawings (pictures) -- very cool stuff. It's like they comes right off the page and interacts with their environment.
6. Earth from above (pictures) -- some very cool pictures of the world from high-altitude photography. Also very cool stuff.
7. Amy K: Making life lovely (7-minute video) -- this makes me want to go out and play with bubbles or buy someone chocolate. You can also watch the original video that precipitated it.
(On a completely unrelated note: it seems that for this year's fast, I have completely skipped the "oh, my God, I'm so hungry" stage and gone directly into "brain doesn't work so good" phase.)
