So... today I'm working on a redelivery of a file we delivered in 2002. What this *should* mean is that I update the file to our current style guidelines (changing elipses to commas, for example), correct any objective errors (eg: we went two the bar), and send it off with a redelivery report of the changes I made. These are supposed to be pretty hands-off files, so we don't need to get them retranslated. Heck, someone even did the stage before me, so there really shouldn't have been much work involved.

Except that the guy before me made TONS of changes. Tons. And he didn't track them at all, so except for doing a manual compare, I have no way to know what's been done to the file.

Add to this that the coordinator of the project won't be in the office for another half-hour (she works 9-5... in L.A.), and I'm worried that I'm doing all sorts of work for nothing, and I'll be asked to re-do the stage before me properly.

I wouldn't mind doing this stage of the proof if I had any idea what the correct track was to take right now.

Edited to add: Sometimes I'm annoyed at the accuracy of my own intuition. I did, in fact, have to re-do the stage before me. It wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't negate two hours of my work and God knows how many of the previous proofer's. Also, it would have helped if the project wasn't super-rush and due today.
...that everyone I know seems to be having a bad day today, including me?

Tell me someone on reading this is having a good day!
