Pimp Your Passion
Mar. 14th, 2008 12:09 pm(Please note: this post brought to you by the power of distracting myself from the two vaccinations I got this morning. Stupid needles.)
I don't shop very much. Frankly, I don't like shopping. But everyone has a few products, restaurants, or service providers they're absolutely in love with, the sort of things you go out of your way to tell people about. I'm going to tell you about mine, and then I want to hear about yours.
1. Larabar -- my latest fruit-and-nut bar addiction. Their ingredient list is simple (some bars have as little as 2 ingredients!), and they taste fantastic. My favourites to date: "apple pie" and "cherry pie." In Montreal, they're available at Loblaws.
2. Camellia Sinensis -- my favourite tea salon in Montreal, located right near Berri Uqam metro (351 Emery). The back room is a great place to take off your shoes and pass a few hours in quiet conversation. Oh, and if you go, be sure to check out their cheesecake (called "quintessence") or their scones.
3. Juliette & Chocolat -- rapidly becoming one of my favourite places in Montreal, it's also located right near Berri Uqam (1615 St. Denis). Yes, the lines can be long (but move fast) and the service is slow, but it's worth it. The hot chocolate is to die for. My favourite dessert: chocolate medley (a brownie with a scoop of ice cream and a tiny pitcher of hot chocolate to pour over it). Also decadent: the chocolate fondue.
4. The Gaian Tarot -- though I don't own it yet, I will definitely be buying the majors-only oracle deck once I've got some money saved up. I love the artwork. Gorgeous. Check out the "journal" to see recently-finished cards that aren't up on the main site yet.
5. L'aromate d'Asie -- I discovered this tiny, family-run Vietnamese restaurant (1219 Mackay, below Ste. Catherine) through Marc. Since then, it's become one of our favourite "tasty but reasonably priced dinner out" places. Very friendly service, wonderful food, and right near Guy or Lucien-l'Allier metro.
Okay, what about you? Restaurants, products, services... the sky's the limit. The only requirement: you've got to absolutely, passionately love the product (or service). Post as many or as few as you like!
