October in books
Oct. 31st, 2007 03:57 pmWoah! Can you believe that I read 10 books in October? It's as though my brain wanted to make up for the abysmal 2 in September. Even though I was working, I somehow managed to be a reading fiend! I accredit this literary gluttony to ensuring that I always had at least 4 books from the library sitting on my night-table, so I was never waiting around for another trip to the candy store for the brain.
Anyway. Here we go. I hope I actually remember enough about all of them to write coherently.
( 59. The Homework Myth: Why Our Kids Get Too Much of a Bad Thing, Alfie Kohn )
( 60. How to Read a Financial Report: Wringing vital signs out of the numbers, John A. Tracy )
( 61. Deep Economy: The Weath of Communities and the Durable Future, Bill McKibben )
( 62. When All You Have is Hope, Frank O'Dea )
( 63. The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, Malcolm Gladwell )
( 64. The Wisdom of Crowds: Why the Many Are Smarter than the Few and How Collective Wisdom Shapes Business, Economies, Societies, and Nations, James Surowicki )
( 65. The Progress Paradox: How Life Gets Better While People Feel Worse, Gregg Easterbrook )
( 66. As the Future Catches You: How Genomics & Other Forces are Changing Your Life, Work, Health & Wealth, Juan Enriquez )
( 67. The World Without Us, Alan Weisman )
( 68. Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America, Barbara Ehrenreich )
Whew! Okay, I'm done for now! Stay tuned next month for more books from Julie!
