Well, at least I got it in writing...
Jun. 4th, 2007 11:17 amToday, I pinged the academic coordinator of the school where I currently teach in the corporate division. Understand that this person has been promising me full-time classes since I got my CELTA in November. Back then, he said the season picks up at the end of March. In March, he said it picks up in May. I actually was supposed to start teaching in May, but that got pulled out from under me at the last minute. Then he said he "might" have a class for me starting in June. I was getting understandably frustrated.
So, final word today is (and I paraphrase), "if you can find more stable work elsewhere, take it. I can't guarantee anything stable, as I've already got enough other teachers. At best, I'd be able to give you the occasional sub work."
So... yeah. At least now I know. With my current (2-hour-a-week) contract lasting until the end of the month, and Pennsic for two weeks in August, and it already being June, I'm not sure who I'll find to hire me for the summer, but at least now I know where *not* to put my hope. I just wish he'd told me sooner instead of leading me on.
Feh.
