Interview tomorrow morning at 11 with people from Quantum. This will involve, I believe, some general interviewing and a computer test. Language testing may also be involved. Afterwards, I don't have a class at 12:30, so therefore start teaching at 2, and finish at 3:15. Friday morning, I've got an interview / battery of tests at Randstad at 9 am (ouch!). Hopefully some good will come out of all this, in the form of new, better-paying, more satisfactory employment. $100 a week is not doing much for my self-esteem.

And now, to shower and sleep. The good news is that I've got essentially all my lesson planning for tomorrow done, with the exception of printing out the handouts. The bad news is that I've got to be functional, make at least 2 phone calls, and print out all those lesson handouts by 10:15 am. No rest for the obsessive, I suppose.

G'night all.
It's been three weeks since the last mega-meme. You know what that means: time for more memeage! As always, feel free to click the "mega-meme" tag on this entry to see the first 23 mega-memes and waste the rest of your afternoon.

1. Interview at Quantum today. I did a typing test and I believe I had the fastest time the recruiter had ever seen (80 wpm). I take some small pride in this. On the other hand, I think I did worse than I'd have liked on the English grammar test, as it was pen-and-paper based, and much of it was about tricky spelling problems. Understand that when it comes to things like it's vs. its, or they're vs. their vs. there, or even compliment vs. complement, I'm very good. When it comes to cancelled vs. canceled, or occurrence vs. occurance, I'm less sure. That's what spell check is for. Let us not even venture into the territory of how poorly I suspect I did on the French grammar test. I'll find out tomorrow in any case.

Regardless, no immediate positions available. The recuiter will be sending me some more computer tests to do at home, and at this point it's a bit of a waiting game on that front.

2. I got a call from another recruiter today, looking for an administrative assistant / receptionist for an international IT firm. Duties would involve, essentially, greeting customers, booking hotel and travel reservations, taking care of the boardroom and supply room, etc. I'm going in for an interview with the recruiter tomorrow morning. Thankfully, the recruiter is a 5-minute walk from my house. The company itself (name TBA) is located in Westmount.

I'm not particularly thrilled about the idea of working for an IT company, but I'll find out more tomorrow. They're apparently paying "significantly more" than my minimum asking price of $13 per hour, so we'll see how that goes.

3. Interview with Randstad on Friday. More on that after the fact.

That's it for now. Tonight: karate and SCA.
