"Put your face in the book"

Okay, I'll be brief today because I'm tired and it's past my bedtime.

I did some good work today -- put together an abstract for paper #3, finished an article I've been trying to finish for almost a month, took notes on about 8 pages of primary source material for paper #2 (about 30 to go), and similarly boring school stuff.

I also watched a very entertaining, passionate, well-attended debate at Massey about whether the monarchy in Canada was a good thing, or whether we should think about moving to something else. In the end, the monarchist side won -- 29 votes to 27.

Finally, I watched 2 episodes of B5: The Ragged Edge and The Corps is Mother, the Corps is Father. I wasn't going to watch a second episode tonight, but it was Bester / telepath episode, and we all know how I feel about those. (For those who don't know, I quote Londo: "I can only assume you have not been paying attention!")

So that's it for me. Tomorrow is a morning class (hence why I didn't want to watch a second episode), followed by a Latin tutorial, and probably some D&D at night instead of our usual B5 meetup (same group, less Byron). G'night all.

Dawson just posted most of their summer positions. There are 6 for humanities, and 1 for history/classics. So I guess I'm going to call the department heads tomorrow and ask them if they want me to RE-send my CV, or if they still have it on file for consideration. And to think just last week I got a letter saying they weren't hiring.

Incidentally, the summer term runs from June 7 to July 31. If I get this, I can *still* go to Pennsic! Yay!

Edited, 4 pm: I just received an email back from the head of the humanities department, telling me that most likely the (6) positions will be filled by current staff, but that I can still apply online and see what happens. There's only one position in the history department, and I assume the same situation is true there as well... Ah well. I'll apply anyway. The worst that can happen is they reject me again.
