Not going to Latin today

I dreamt last night about superpowers. It was long and complicated, and I'm not getting into it now.

However, since I need to write at least 8 pages of my paper today, I think I'm going to play hookie from Latin. I've did the readings and the exercise, but I don't want to split up my day in the middle (going to Latin essentially means I lose the hours from noon to 2:30). People in the class with me: would you mind going over it with me on Monday?

Edited, 3:20 pm: I'm up to 12 pages written of my paper, but the last three pages aren't flowing right now. I suppose I'll write them tomorrow. Time for other work. Yay!... I think.

The emotional rollar coaster of paper writing

The good news is that I managed to get until the end of page 12 of my 15-page paper today. The bad news is 1) it's not particularly good and will require HEAVY editing, and 2) it completely wiped me out. By the end of it, my brain absolutely would not focus at all. Not even enough to translate word lists from Latin. I was really upset about this (I got into the mindset of, "this paper is horrible, I'll fail the class and get kicked out of grad school, etc."), and wound up calling my mommy to commiserate.

In the end, I went to Massey's tree decorating. I had mulled wine (yum!), far too many sugar cookies (more yum!), and other holiday treats. I made some Christmas tree ornaments, danced a bit to Christmas songs, sat by the fire and shared my annoyances with someone in more-or-less the same situation I am, and generally felt much better.

Came home, translated two of my three Latin word lists for this week, and am now about to read a bit and then go to bed. Tomorrow I am unexpectedly NOT tutoring (my spot is being taking by someone who knows something about biology and can therefore help my student with her biology homework). So my plan is to write the last 3 pages in the morning, go to Massey for lunch, come home and edit at least half the paper, possibly do some Latin. Tomorrow night is Massey's Gaudy (one of the most popular events of the year).
