Oct. 22nd, 2005

For over a year, I have been happily blogging away here while my friend Eric has been blogging away on his own site, every 3 days like clockwork. Now, there are three things I would like to say about Eric and his blog at this point:

1. Almost no one reading this has probably ever met Eric.
2. I have known Eric longer than I have known anyone else reading this, with the exception of family.
3. I find Eric's blog highly entertaining, often thought-provoking, and I look forward to it more than any other blog I read (and considering that there are 78 people on my friends' list, that's saying something).

In his most recent entry, Eric was discussing the act of blogging, and left his readers with the following questions: Are you truer to Who You Are on or offline? Is there a difference between the two? Does it matter at all?

By happy coincidence, I have been thinking about similar topics for several weeks, so it pleases me to be able to use Eric's journal as a catalyst to speak about my LJ in general, and the direction I want to take it in particular.

Thoughts about blogging, and the direction I'm going to be taking this journal for a few weeks )
alternate subject line: Don't assume. It makes an ass out of u and me.

The masses of my devoted readership have spoken. After a huge public outcry (by which I mean 4 comments and an email), I have decided to keep my journal more-or-less status quo. In other words, though there will be the occasional rant, essay, link, meme, etc., most of my posts will continue to be "what I did today," and most of them will be my usual length (ie: long). Further, I will probably continue in my rhythm of 2 posts a day. I will leave my previous post online for posterity, but consider its contents null and void. If you don't like this situation, there is nothing requiring you to continue reading this journal, and I will not think less of you as a person for not knowing its contents. Please leave your key with the receptionist on your way out.

Since we're back on "what I did today" terms, there are two things that deserve mention today:

Tutoring and the Senior Fellows' Gala )

And now I am home for the night. Tomorrow I'm getting together with Miri to study Latin, and then playing minigolf in the afternoon on a course set up in the underground tunnels of Massey. Should be fun. So that's it for now. G'night all!
