The things I do for money...
Jun. 28th, 2005 07:07 amToday I start my summer job. I am not looking forward to it. It's not that it'll be a new experience; this will be my third summer working at the same place. Nor is it a completely bad experience: my boss is fantastic, the job is tedious but not particularly difficult, and it's generally a friendly environment.
BUT:
1. the commute is 35-40 minutes if traffic is light, and I can only be downtown by 6-6:30.
2. it's in the middle-of-nowhereland industrial Lachine. I actually have to DRIVE 5 minutes to get to a McDonalds. And that, by far, is the nearest "restaurent."
3. in very high heat and humidity (like, say, today), the ventilation system doesn't work properly and I have to breathe glue and plastic fumes. My already-asthmatic lungs will not like me by this evening.
So... yeah. I'm not sure what I'm doing tonight. I should probably see my grandparents, and then I'll either go to SCA or Grumpys. Maybe (but probably not) both. Have I mentioned I never particularly cared for the "daily grind"? One of the reasons I'm so keen to be a teacher is that I can set (mostly) my own hours.
