This is for Kyn, and whoever else wants to read it. A summary of our game last night.

Orpheus: the Corruption, part 23

The session begins with everyone waking up in the various parts of Casa Ripley. Trish has, for the first time in years, woken up before Stacey and taken a shower. It turns out that there is running... something... but it's certainly not water. Closer to blood. The two sisters decide to head downstairs and get breakfast.

Charles wakes up in the study and proceeds to play guitar. Lakuna doesn't so much wake up as get up, having not slept all night. Chet wakes up in the garage, trying to remember which bedroom was his.

Chet, somewhat disoriented, asks Lakuna for help finding his room, which they eventually do. It turns out that Ripley has decorated each bedroom in what he thinks is most appropriate for the characters. For sake of amusement:
- Trish and Stacey: 1/2 a teenage girl's bedroom from the 1940s, 1/2 military theme
- Lakuna: very girly, with an original barbie, and a framed photo of Chet on the dresser
- Charles: "Trading spaces" gone wrong with a music theme: vynals on the wall, 8-track coffee table, etc.
- Chet: gothy science stuff in one corner (test tubes with pewter dragons on them, eg.), and a poster of Lakuna on the ceiling above the bed

Anyway. Lakuna and Chet talk for a while. Somehow the conversation gets onto the topic of Devner. Lakuna says, "You said a lot of things in Denver." Chet, perhaps not thinking clearly yet, responds, "And they're all still true." Lakuna quickly leaves to go back to her room.

Meanwhile, Stacey and Trish have a pancake breakfast cooked by Darlene (Ripley's nurse... you know the one). After breakfast, Stacey decides to check in on people. Charles is still playing guitar, Chet is still in his room, Lakuna is still in *her* room (drinking, I might add), and Phil... is not. Stacey, showing more temper than she's shown in days, enlists Charles to help her search the house to find him.

As they're searching, Phil returns. It turns out he couldn't sleep, and he went out for coffee. At the coffee shop, he met Amin and had a long conversation with him. The substance of the converstion was essentially: 1. don't talk to strange ghosts (the irony did not escape him), 2. the group should go back to Orpheus, because there are things they're not telling us, 3. the other members of the crucible don't like him (Amin). He chose to speak to Phil because he's new and not prejudiced yet.

Stacey is really pissed off that Phil's being going off speaking to spectres, but the worst is yet to come! Charles apparently knows Amin, and thinks Amin knows what's going on with Lakuna.

Somewhere around this time, Lakuna and Chet come downstairs. She's had another vision, this time directed by the spectre in her head, about what will happen at the Orpheus office. Stacey tries to make sure Lakuna is all right, but Phil blurts out somehing about Amin, forcing Stacey to reveal everything from the previous conversation. Mass clusterfuck ensues, as per normal, and people storm off.

Trish, happy to be doing something other than play video games, goes off to talk to Charles. She calms him down and whoops his ass at Halo at the same time, and eventually everyone comes back to the kitchen. As Charles comes back, he says to Phil "Don't call me Chuck again". Phil, knowing it's a bad idea but unable to stop himself, says, "Whatever you say, Sparky."

In an instant, Charles is lunging at Benoit from across the room, and Benoit shifts into Darnell Peterson, Stacey's old army buddy. (Note: the shift is only mental, not physical.) Darnell side-steps, and Stacey lightly takes Charles down, and everyone calms down. Once Stacey realizes that it is, in fact, Peterson in Benoit's head, they have a chat for a few minutes, and then the entire crucible gets down to the business of planning the "outing" to Orpheus.

Strategizing ensues. From what Lakuna has seen, there will be a dog-thing that attacks us, or maybe two. Once we get to Orpheus, we will be completely outnumbered, and we will not win by force of arms. We decide to go first to the labs, then to find Dave if possible, and deal with things as they come. Peterson will come with us, and if he changes back to Benoit in the meantime, Lakuna will "deal with it." We decide to leave in an hour.

As Stacey and Peterson catch up on old times, Charles goes off to play guitar (of course), and Chet and Lakuna go speak (again). Lakuna, under the influence of her spectre, turns ice-queen on him and makes him leave. As he's leaving, the spectre takes over her mind and gives her another rape scene. Everyone (except Stacey, because I failed the roll) realizes something's wrong with Lakuna, Petersoon immediately transformed into Mr. Brown (Lakuna's grandfather), and everyone rushes to see if she's okay.

By the time Stacey gets there, Chet is holding her in his arms, Mr. Brown is using whispy powers (the name of which I've forgotten) to calm her down, and everything seems to be under control. After a while, Brown ushers everyone but Chet out of the room. Stacey goes off to her own room while Brown and Charles wait outside.

Charles tries to peak inside, and Brown uses his whispy power again to attrack his head out of the room and also attract Ripley's attention.

Eventually, Chet and Lakuna finish talking. Chet hands Lakuna some coffee (spiked, it turns out, with speed... with Lakuna's consent). The plans are apparently to go ahead as planned. Charles thinks that he has figured out a way to force Phil's personalities to the surface, and takes Brown downstairs in an attempt to manifest Peterson. It works (though at the cost of 3 temporary spite each).

While Charles is doing this, Chet and Lakuna decide that they need to see if Chet can actually share vitality. This is mostly because, if anything happens to Chet at Orpheus, we want to be sure we can energize him there. The session ends with this vitality sharing: as Lakuna's stain (yes, she's up to 2 permanent spite now), black flacking skin, manifests, and as Chet's stain (bruises throughout his body) manifests, and Chet has the experience of being raped by his old college buddy.

And now, damn you, I've spent a half-hour writing this that I really should have used for schoolwork. I hope you appreciate this, Kyn!
