Regarding your footwear concerns: bring your period shoes, the sneakers AND the hiking boots.
A little foot powder (Gold Bond, anti-monkeybutt) may help keep the sweating and stinking down, and comfortable feet at Pennsic are HAPPY feet at Pennsic. Perhaps someone can make a linen cover (like spats?) for your terribly modern sneakers so you can feel less obtrusive with them? It's the sort of thing that ought to be easy to do from scraps, honestly.
I bring a package of baby wipes to wipe my feet down before bed every night... it feels so good! I also keep a small inflatable foot pool for soaking my feet - I use the icewater that needs to get drained from my cooler anyway :)
For the love of all you hold holy, don't wear any shoes that aren't fully broken-in! (the exception being flip-flops or other similar cheap shoes for shower and porta trips)
On a bardic note... I hope you'll swing along Painted Wheel (runs next to Handicapped camping and around behind a couple Kingdom encampments) on your wanderings... look for the Barony of an Dubheaigeann and ask for Jenna ChildSlayer (that's me). Even if I'm not in, you may well get an invite - we appreciate bards.
