As we find ourselves barrelling towards end-game, Our Heroes (tm) are faced with enemies old and new, betrayals, unlikely allies, and plot twists! (So... many... plot twists...)
Another story, set midway through last session, as we're all aboard the Phalaborwan flagship headed towards De Aar. I've wanted to write this meeting for a while, and I'm glad I got a chance between next session.
Another short story, this one set very close to the end of last session, after the conjuration ritual at the rift but before the sighting of the Falan fleet. In which it is revealed that, as always, actions have consequences.
The humans are coming, the humans are coming! Yes, the human fleet has finally made its way through the rift. And just in time too! Things are about to get bloody!
And that’s where we’re leaving it. Unless we manage a feat of miraculous scheduling, the next game may not be until mid-November. The cliffhangers! The horrible, horrible cliffhangers!
Episode 15 and the cards are laid on the table. When Nidhogg extends the hand of hospitality to us, it’s only fitting that we circle around and stab him in the back. It’s for the good of the multiverse, after all. And involves big explosions, which has gotta count for something, right?
That’s it for this time! Next time: continued war! Retaliation! Retribution! And the knowledge that we may have messed up paradise forever! …But hey, it’s no big deal. At least we got to blow stuff up.
And that's it for this time! Next time... who knows, really? Will we be able to bring the fleet through? Will we be forced to find another rift somewhere else? Will Incose kill us all, just because he feels like it? Join us in a month to find out!
When everything looks bleak and wintery... it's probably about accurate, really. It doesn't help when our main ally gets captured by the enemy, leaving us to face the hordes of winter alone. Oh, well. That's why we're the heroes. And level 14.
Into the lands of dream! Where the people are strange, the landscape is stranger, and fights are conducted by slinging phantasms. Unless you're us, of course.
And that's it for this time. Next time, we return one level more experienced. So we'll all have our new, shiny, level-14 abilities to take on the Queen of the Winter Court. Why do I have a feeling we're gonna need them?
Chapter 2! It’s 80 years later and this time, we’re turning the tables and coming in as the human invaders. I mean, expeditionary force. Of course that’s what I meant.
The new characters are: - Lieutenant Vanessa “Nessa” Thünderclød, walker pilot (played by Tony) - Specialist Tamerin “Tam” Tempest, scout (played by Pat) - Captain Amber Stormweaver, magus (played by Julie) - Kyn the GM
Senior Mage Cadet Amber Stormweaver knocked tentatively on her mentor’s door. There were conventions around the Mage Corps, ways to indicate that you were in study or conducting experiments and should not be disturbed. Still, people sometimes forgot. It was best to be cautious when arriving unannounced.
It’s been a while, but I think we’re long past due for a new Sela story. Because when you’ve got three years of downtime and an ambiguous relationship with a major NPC, what else are you gonna do? This one’s set relatively late in the downtime, maybe six months or so before last session. There may yet be others.
The war has been dragging on for three years. The queen is succumbing to the demon within her. So when she sends Our Heroes (tm) on a special diplomatic mission to the 4th Tier, we should all recall the wise words of Admiral Ackbar, "It's a trap!" Oh, well. At least we're all level 13 now.
This week's session answered the universal question, "How DOES the treasure get into the dungeons in the first place?" The answer, as it always seems to be, is "Our Heroes (tm)."
As we close this momentous chapter of Winds of Vesperia, let us take stock of where things stand. The king is dead and three queens have risen. The warforged is once more his true self. A paladin has regained his wings. And one lone dwarf is lost forever in the vastness of the planes.
