My boyfriend's mom is awesome

Tomorrow, Marc and I are hosting a meet-and-greet for the people in our building. (No idea how many will come, but the announcement's been up for a week and a half.) I was planning to go out and buy some cookies and other desserts, when Marc's mom volunteered to bake for us. Now, Marc's mom is a super-awesome baker. Beyond that, she doesn't know the meaning of "one batch." When she bakes, she *bakes*.

Last week, she came over with cranberry-chocolate shortbread. It's now in our freezer. Today, she called to let me know that she's made three types of cookies, some bars, and did I want a cake or another type of cookie?

Well, there goes my diet plans for the week. *grin*

Haha. Sounds like me. My grandmother just called and asked what to serve people that are on a gluten free diet. So I'm making her two batches of gluten free cookies. =P

Nice.

A few months ago, I wanted home-made cookies. So I told Marc, "I feel like making cookies." He said, "Great! We can give some to Ian and Kristin, some to my brothers, some to your mom..." He stopped when he realized I was giving him the "what the heck are you talking about" look. For Marc, "baking" means at least 4-5 hours and results in many dozens if not hundreds of cookies. He just doesn't know the meaning of making a single batch. He's never experienced his mom making only one. *grin* It's cute, if infuriating sometimes.

On the other hand, it means I'm getting five different types of cookies and one or two types of bars for my party tomorrow, so I can't complain *too* much.

Your hips may complain, but your mouth will tell it to hush cause it's so damn tasty!

I think hosting a meet & greet for neighbours is a wonderful idea. I think it's really bizarre how in such a huge city like this, someone can have tons of friends yet not know his/her's neighbour's names. Let me know how it goes!
