The voice of doom!

Yesterday's session mostly involved preparations for entering the one place in the Dread Realm that Azure has told us specifically not to go: The Dread Forest. The rest of the session consisted of fighting the guardian of the Dread Forest, a fight which we ultimately won, though at the potential cost of our souls. Ah, well. Such is life when you're a D&D adventurer.

[The Dread Realm is the final resting place of dead souls.]
Eric: "It's funny, in the Dread Realm, raise dead just works like teleport other."

[Jing's character Aily has been transformed into a half-vampire, making her more appealing to certain evil NPCs.]
Erin (as the Dark Seraph): "You can be a bridesmaid when I marry Lyanna. Then we'll eat you."

[Sadly true.]
Andrew the GM: "You get the sense he doesn't like you instinctively."
Eric: "I get that a lot."

[Azlo has a ton of ranks in diplomacy... but you'd never know it most of the time.]
Aily: "The death knights see something in me. Do you know what it is?"
Azlo: "I think you're dying."

[When Neyrr's worried, everyone should be worried.]
Neyrr: "No matter what happens, don't touch the marionette. And this isn't one of those times when I'm kidding."

[It's always important to be precise in your negotiations, especially when dealing with ancient unnameable evils.]
Polly (a marionette inhabited by an ancient unnameable evil): "I will continue my existence with the Toymaker until he dies."
Neyrr: "And will you facilitate that?"

[Sometimes, there's only one logical choice.]
Polly: "He who carries me, let him have no soul."
Azlo: "Why is everyone looking at me?!?"

[A line from Babylon 5, but somehow appropriate.]
Lyanna: "I will do penance... later."

[Azlo looks at Polly, the marionette he's now carrying.]
Andrew the GM: "When you look at this, you have the urge to grind glass into someone's eyeball."
Adam: "So everything's on par, then?"
Eric: "Funny, that's what Isaac said."

[Playing dumb isn't always playing.]
Tel'Thar Doon (guardian of the Dread Forest): "I believe I know what's in that sack."
Neyrr: "Really? We don't."

[On the one hand, if Azure doesn't want us to go into the Dread Forest, we probably should. On the other, entering will probably lead to our almost-certain deaths. The guardian tries to get us to turn back.]
Neyrr: "We're having a hard time arguing with this creature. We suspect it's right."

[Remember, kids, you only have one chance to make a first impression. Try not to do it by wiping out the entire dwarven race.]
Azlo: "I don't think you're going to end all life."
Neyrr: "We have to admit that based on our track record, it could happen."

[Azlo inadvertently drops Polly, who consumes the guardian of the Dread Forest in one fell swoop and causes three of the PCs to immediately attempt to kill themselves.]
Azlo: "What am I holding?!?"

[I should never, never, never be allowed to roll on Andrew the GM's random luck tables.]
Eric: "There's only one bad item on the chart, but we know what's gonna happen."

[After two rounds of combat, we manage to kill the guardian of the Dread Forest and a Shade that was attempting to call Azure back to defend him.]
Eric (as Azure): "I have this feeling something is terribly wrong."
Andrew the GM (as Azure): "Why do I immediately think of Neyrr?"

And that's it for this week! Join us next time when we'll (hopefully) find out whether Azure and Gredslorth started the gods' war on a lark! Won't that be fun!
