Whew!
For the first time in a long, long time, there were no files for me at work today. Which essentially meant that I had 8 hours in which to look busy. I wrote a poem, browsed blogs, browsed my own LJ, and just generally was aware of the clock ticking and the pain in my neck and shoulder.
Here's hoping that tomorrow there's some actual work for me to do. I don't know if I can go through that again.

"time's fun when you're having flies" ~Kermit the Frog
I once had such a job as a front desk secretary where (when I wasn't overwhelmed or buried) I was often told to "look busy". I was still a dance mistress at the time, and got both bored and ambitious. I decided to catalogue SCA dances vs. Avalable Cheat Sheet Choreography vs. commercially available "danceable" music. It was a HUGE spreadsheet by the time I was done= 200+ dances, 30+ CD's. If I recall, it took slightly over three weeks. :)
Early congrats on finding an apt- hopeing it works out!

Usually this job is pretty stable in terms of work that it gives me. I guess we're just in a lull this week.
Admittedly, "looking busy" is a lot easier with an Internet connection than without one. (I know from experience.) So at least there's that in my favour.
