Sing, sing a song...
Some very happy-making news: it seems that, after two weeks of suffering through a sore throat and scratchy voice, I'm finally able to sing again! Yes, I need to warm up a little more than normal, and no, I can't project as far as I normally can, but it looks like I will in fact be able to sing at Pennsic. I'd been getting worried for a while, wondering whether I'd need to stick to spoken-word stuff (which, for me, is about 5 pieces, compared to the 50 on my memorized request sheet or the 125+ in my book).
I might not be at absolutely 100%, but I'm confident enough that I'd be willing to do a few songs for a small group of people or a single song for a large group of people, which is pretty much all I want. With a bit more luck, I'll be back to 100% by next week, when Pennsic bardic really revs up.
Yay!
Edited, 1 am: I spoke too soon. After spending an hour around cats with only half-kicked-in antihistamines (it was an emergency visit to a friend in need), my voice is back to being scratchier than I'd like it. I could still sing if my life depended on it, but I wouldn't be happy with the results. Hopefully I'll be back on track by tomorrow.
