It's 3 o'clock. Do you know where YOUR fabric is?

Right. So I did quite a bit of sewing today, and wound up both starting and finishing veil #2 (of 3). It seems that I'm averaging about 3 hours per veil, 4 hours if you include cutting and pre-ironing time. All told, this is quite a reasonable about of time. If I can get veil #3 finished by the end of the weekend, that'll give me 5 weeks until Pennsic, by which time I must sew two overtunics and a 3/4 circle cloak. If I'm good about it, I might be able to hand-sew them all. Yay! There are one or two smaller projects I might also do, time permitting, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

And now, to tangent a bit, the stuff I've done over the last two days:

Wednesday night, after the (mostly successful) implementation of "Operation 'The Buck Doesn't Even Slow Down Here,'" I went out to karate to make up for the class I missed due to Tuesday's SCA schola. Before getting to class, I stopped by Blue Monday and tried out their pinapple and carrot muffin. It was good, but not as good as the brownies. If you haven't yet basked in the yumminess of the brownies, what are you waiting for?!?

Anyway. Karate on Wednesday was good. I worked with another yellow belt, Cedric, reviewing the movement chains and learning some new terms.

After karate, I bumped into Jimmy while waiting for Ian, and the three of us went back to the house formerly known as Old School. Beverages were consumed, conversation was had, and I finally caved in to a craving for ice cream at Dad's. All too soon, it was time to go home.

Thursday, it was back to work. I spent the day working with my old supervisor, who is fantastic, and so had a great time. I did two months of his filing (ie: all the filing since the *last* time I'd done his filing) in about two hours, relaxed for a while, and then answered the phone at reception until it was time to leave. Very chill, very relaxed. I miss working with my old supervisor.

Once that was done, I went down to Verdun for yet another karate class. On the way, I stopped in at Blue Monday for what is quickly becoming my traditional "grab dinner before class starts" routine. I tried out another brownie, apple-raisin this time. Yet again yummy, though not as yummy as the brownies. (Remember what I said about the brownies?)

Karate class was somewhat frustrating. I was paired with Cedric again along with another yellow belt, Katrina. On the agenda was ippon kumites (ie: 1-move sparring). Understand that in my old dojo, we were doing sparring at white belt, and the guidelines for contact were "firm touch." (ie: enough to know that you'd touched someone, but not enough to do damage) Here, though, it seems that actual contact is frowned upon until about green belt. I had to keep pulling myself back from having my moves connect, because Katrina would wince every time I touched her, no matter how lightly. It was frustrating.

Afterwards, I went downtown to visit Yan at Melange Magique, visit the books at Chapters, and (briefly) check out the Jazz Fest. I would have stayed longer, but it was busy even for me. So once more I was off to home.

Today is my day off work because of Canada Day, and I spent much of it sewing. Results above. Tonight I'm off with Ian to visit his parents and maybe head down to the Jazz Fest again. Yay music!

And that's it for now. There are a few things running around my head that might become posts at some point, or not. Consider it a surprise. TTFN!
