The D&D Game With No Name
The good news is Our Heroes (tm) have safely delivered the villagers back to Messeney, where they can wait out the rebuilding of their destroyed town. The bad news is we're no closer to answers... and the animals have all gone vicious. Oh, well. Nothing a little brute force can't fix.
[Gorka'munda realizes that the elder of the village stayed behind to help with the rebuilding, meaning the villagers are effectively leaderless. Which means he's in charge. This is a scary, scary thought.]
Andrew: "You mean they broke rank when I was in charge? It's beating time."
Bob the GM: "You're going to beat the peasants?"
[Oh, selective memory. How selective you are.]
Eric: "So only one goblin escaped?"
Andrew: "No goblins escaped."
Julie: "Just because you thought it was narratively appropriate..."
Eric: "I though it was narratively inappropriate; I thought it was funny."
[Gorka'munda is trying to get Ionos to have a drink of truly vile orcish alcohol with him. Ionos prefers to drink the water in his own waterskin, so he calls Baska over to placate our 'leader.']
Baska: "The contents of Ionos' skin are very potent, but only for clerics of Eliath."
Andrew: "You're so lucky I took the gullible flaw."
[Gorka'munda is trying to wrap his head around Ionos' religion, the Church of Eliath the Shield.]
Gorka'munda: "God is shield?"
Ionos: "..."
Julie: "You're arguing theology with the orog -- go."
[We've captured a goblin prisoner who seems intent on not talking.]
Andrew: "How do you feel about goblin stew?"
Julie: "Gamey."
[The goblin has been remarkably unhelpful.]
Colt: "I think we should gag the goblin and sedate him somehow."
Everyone else at the table: "'Somehow'?"
[Colt and Bardo bring in Gorka'munda to help in their interrogation.]
Eric: "Go ahead, threaten the helpless opponent."
Andrew: "Don't mind if I do!"
[Gorka'munda breaks the goblin's finger in an attempt to get him to talk. I'm not sure if this says more about the character or the player.]
Eric: "I object to the torture here."
Andrew: "I just broke his finger -- that's not torture."
[Amos' wife Masfalia is acting as translator in the interrogation, because she's the only one who speaks any amount of goblinoid.]
Bob the GM: "She kicks him in the broken hand."
Andrew: "Anyone want to sense alignment on her?"
Eric: "No, we're good."
[On the road back to town, we come across the bodies of a number of dead animals who appear to have died fighting each other.]
Eric: "I make a show of examining some of the bodies and then say, 'I don't know.'"
[Gorka'munda has slung the uncooperative goblin over his shoulder on a stick. The day's march continues.]
Bob the GM: "The day passes mostly uneventfully. You don't encounter anything that wants to kill you... other than the goblin you're carrying."
[Having returned to the town of Messeney, Ionos goes to report to his church and finds a number of petitioners looking for healing magic, after having been attacked by particularly vicious animals.]
Ionos: "Anyone here not get attacked by something unusual today?"
And that's it for this week. Next week, I'll be away from the game telling stories at the StorySlam (which you should totally attend and cheer me on), so someone else will have to take the lines. Baska will be busy doing "stuff" (technical term) in the city and rejoin the rest of the party in two weeks. Until then!
