Random Ramblings

I know some of you may be itching for another "response to newspaper stupidity," but people have been more-or-less intelligent on the letters page, and I've been more-or-less lazy. Live with it. If you want to see a response to something stupid, either write it yourself, or point me in its direction.

In other news: Vocalz last night was fun. It was a nice change going to a karaoke place where most people are pretty good. I did 3 songs:
1. Carry On My Wayward Son, Kansas (I think I did it pretty well)
2. Elephant Love Medley, Moulin Rouge (with Ian, we didn't butcher it nearly as badly as we feared we would)
3. You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three, Big Bad Voodoo Daddies (I have fun singing it, but no idea how well I did)

All in all, it was fun and I enjoyed myself. Yay me.

It is Valentines' Day today. For the first time in a number of years, I am actually dating someone on the sappiest day of the Hallmark year. True to form, I'm not doing anything with Marc today, but we're waiting until Wednesday. Instead I am gaming tonight. This was not necessarily my decision, but proves how much I care for Hallmark sentimentality.

OTOH, I got home last night to three red roses in a vase by my bed with a card from Marc. Pretty! And completely unexpected!

Schoolwork: I have a midterm today that I will probably do okay on, but I feel underprepared. I did very little schoolwork this weekend. Alas. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am, however, very much enjoying the lightness of my coursework this semester. It gives me time to do other stuff. Despite doing an increadibly small amount of schoolwork this weekend, I still think I'll be able to manage most of my classes this week. Whatever I miss, I'll catch up on the train rides to and from Toronto this weekend.

Europe: I'm consider making a list of "must sees" for France, to give myself an idea of what I absolutely want to see and what I won't mind missing. Anyone interested in seeing it? I've got most of the "absolute must sees" in my mind already -- there's about 8-10 of them. (I'm trying to keep the numbers small, so as not to overwhelm myself.)

On the downside, the next Italy trip info session is the day after Investiture. Sigh. Can I not get one day off?!?

Toronto: I am slightly annoyed about my Toronto trip, because I want to check out a few of the residences and realize I won't have much time to do so. I arrive Thursday evening, Friday I have a dinner that I need to go back to my aunt's place in North York to change for, and I leave on Sunday afternoon. Doesn't give me much time to tour the campus. Ah well.

In terms of the SCA, I finished one medallion. I had hoped to finish them all for the end of the weekend, but it was not to be. I will not have time to get fabric for the baldrics this week (I don't think), which sucks. I still have time, though. I can make this work. They won't be particularly pretty, but they'll be functional.

Anyway, that's it. Sorry to ramble so long. Feel free not to read any of the above, if you're reading this on your friends' page and haven't clicked any of the cut-texts yet.
