What to do, what to do?

Lately, I've been acquiring a lot of free books. Let me be clear: this is a very good thing. I like books, and I like owning books. So far, so good.

The problem arises when I realize that I'm rapidly running out of shelf space. In fact, I may have already run out of space on my bookshelves. (I've got one full-sized, 5-shelf one, and a half-height, 3-shelf one, plus another I use for reference books.) The question is, what do I do about this situation? Right now, here's what I think my options are:

1. Box up some of the books currently on shelves to make space for the new ones. (I already have several boxes of books, but I consider this a temporary measure.)
2. Buy another bookshelf (I just have no idea where I'd put it.)
3. Get rid of some of the books I know I'm never going to read again; sell them or give them away. (But that means parting with my precious books!)

Anyone have thoughts, one way or the other?
